Yea even sometimes highlighting doesn't work for me! I just recently got into JET.... probably a year and a half ago. I was a bit late on the rock scene, but now it is officially my choice of music. JET are purely awesome, as their music has meaning, is catchy and lets you sing along. Shaka Rock especially is such a summery album, it is bound to get you in a good mood. Nic couldn't have said it better; I love the honesty of the band.

I saw them in Portugal Optimus Alive this year while waiting for the Manics on the barrier. None of us knew Jet were even still going and I only knew the one song; AYGBMG. They came onstage, me and my friend exchanged glances and she said, 'Singer's really cute!' The set was amazing; I love all of their songs even though I knew nothing. Nic and Chris were really amused by our feather boas and sailor hats in the front row and kept staring, it was funny. She's A Genius was the one that really stood out for me.

As soon as I got back to the UK I checked their dates, saw the one-off London date, booked a ticket and tried to learn their entire back catalogue in a week. Turned up, got to the barrier, had an amazing time, Chris recognised me and said hi, and really really want them to come back. Whenever I ened cheering up I still listen to Beat On Repeat and Hey Kids to cheer myself up! I love everything they've done but Shaka Rock is flawless.

Oh yeah Hanna I remember reading your blog about the Portugal gig, I think I clicked on it from the Manics site. That's great to hear they won you over from a live performance and you went to see them again soon after :) It's sadly the same for a lot of bands in that people don't think they're around anymore when they're not given masses of radio play or magazine front covers. It's weird too cos Jet were massive in 2004.
I got into them with my brother and girlfriend at the time. They were just so different to stock rock bands around at the time (and still are).

It's really sad just how many people don't know they're even still going over here. I've introduced (well, forced...) so many of my friends to listen to Shaka Rock and they all love it. I just don't understand how a band with an album of songs of that calibre (Black Hearts On Fire and She's A Genius would go down amazingly here if people actually heard them) aren't running the joint in the UK. Their PR department must be terrible. :-S Sorry, writing blind, don't know how this is coming out.

Of course their string of hits off Get Born was how I found out about them. Their iTunes commercial made everyone buy that album and know their name by 2004. I picked up Shine On when it came out, gave it some spins, only the single Put Your Money... stood out. Then probably in 2008 or so, I put it back in and the weight of the album hit me. Granted, if you know JET's influences and love them, then it makes their music that much more accessible. And by then I had solidly studied up on my classic rock.

My questions is not When I became a fan but Why I did, Yeppers I'm a 55 year old who likes their Music and NO CAM, I'm not some old guy that follows you around because you sound like the Beatles or the Stones, YOU SOUND LIKE JET, You have taken everything that was good from Rock put it into a bag, well shaken and came out with SOUL, Good old Stand up feel good ass kicking Rock and Roll I'm never down after a Jet song, JET puts a smile on your face, and damn nothing about Death and Destruction and the "F" bomb . Dose any of the new groups knows what a lead guitar is. and what it's for.? SHINE ON.. The groups best album, I don't by the bull about the album being black or the music was down, Smoke a BIG ONE CRANK IT UP and rip it up.!! Great songs everyone of them, LAST.. I hate to see Jetthefuckingband leave he is right in a way...I never see any new info on this web site, the only things here are what we find. Ask the staff is like asking your ass...I think there is more movement from your ass...Has any of the guys (JET) posted anything on here..? has anyone received an email for them.? What happen to the South American tour..? I've been here for awhile and kinda know a few of you, I feel like I've been left standing at the front door with Nobody at home...

John, you hit it right on the nail. They are different, and so natural and laid back. It is too bad more people don't know about 'em, but at the same time, they are better as people (and arguable the music too) now that they lost all of their temporary fans (to put it nicely). Of course, I wouldn't like to see 'em go down because they didn't have enough fans... its a tough balance.
Especially with Shaka Rock, I love how they made Rock n Roll semi-new again - it's not a copy of the old, and not a sight of the shit part of 'new' and 'modern'.
Isn't it ironic though how they never sing the "F bomb", but they'll drop it any other time, all the time!

I bought their Get Born cd without really knowing about them, just knew LWYD because it was well played on the radio here. Then heard nothing til XFM played PYMWYMI while I was just scrolling through radio stations and recognised that it was JET instantly. Bought the Shine On cd late 2006, went to my first JET gig in March 2007 and have been a huge fan since then. Been lucky to see them four times now. Hopefully late 2011 they will be back!
And was glad that The Blue Van opened for them back in 2007 because they too are a great rock band - so entertaining on stage, mesmerising! Another band that just knows how to put on a great show. They've got a new album out on 13th September.

Funny, I thought The Blue Van was oddly similar to JET... and whatdya know they toured with them! And even more 'coincidental', is that their song was on an iPad commercial that I saw.

I fell in love with Jet in March 2009. I jumped through canals in TV and I stopped when I heard a very cool song that was used in the Polish "You Can dance". I listened to that and then I checked in the Internet what the song was. And it was "Are You Gonna Be My Girl". So this is how it began :P

I first heard about Jet sometime in 2003/2004 when they were on the radio heaps (this is Melbourne I'm talking about). "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" was indeed everywhere! Of course, it would've been a crime to have tapped my feet and lip-synced to that song without checking them out ... and so began my growing 'fan-dom' of Jet after getting a hold of Get Born. Subsequently, "Look What You've Done" and "Rollover DJ" were on the radio a lot too. Also bought Shine On and thought it was amazing despite what the over dramatised media wrote about it. Shaka Rock, rocked! Got it on the first day it was out and played it to anyone who needed a lift in my car. The CD lives in my car still! (and that's a compliment since I only leave stuff there if I'm going to bother to listen to it again). Okay that's me done!

I first became a fan of JET after hearing their classic 'are you gonna be my girl' on the radio a few years ago, so just listened to a few of their other tracks online and was instantly hooked. Bought all their albums within a few weeks and was listening to them (on repeat) back and forth to school and any other journey I went on. I love how all their music makes me feel really good, I think because it's easy to connect to. It would be great if they did a tour in the UK sometime which I would definetely do anything to go to. They are by far my favourite band.

I became a fan about a year ago... My sister showed me are you gonna be my girl... They kinda restored my faith in modern music. I'm generally a 60s fan, and till then i thought that all modern music was y' know.. Terrible. But, jet reassured me. I'm very grateful for that
