What shows has everyone been too lately?

Mon, Aug 16, 2010 at 10:14 PM

Just wondering who has been to or found some good bands recently? It would be interesting to here what people are listening too, and what gigs people are going too. fee

Thanks for the link, I just checked it out love the song shoot from the hip. there didn't seem to be any other songs to listen to. Also there influences list was very surprising, I am very impressed. So I am going to see if i can find or order their cd. I still have to check out the one Chris mentioned in the tweet thing last week. fee

I really like the Frightened Rabbit, need to listen more to the black keys, and to Biffy Clyro but enjoyed what I have heard so far. This is great I am finding more bands that I could get into. But what I would really like is a full on chic rock band. A really good one. Think Pat Benatar; love is a battlefield/we belong but more rock/edge. There are heaps of guy rock bands which is great, as I love a man who can sing, but it would be nice to have a chic rock band in the mix.

try Little Fish, they supported Blondie here in England. quite a new band. as a live band i enjoyed it. http://www.myspace.com/littlefishmusic Debut album out now! Think the video's a bit crazy but she is really 'normal' in real life.
Or Skunk Anansie, back together with new album out beginning of September doing the festival circuit right now.

Just found out that Biffy Clyro is the support for Muse when they come here I am seeing them on Dec 14th in Melb, so I am now very motivated to learn their songs.

personally i prefer the Puzzle cd to their Only Revolutions. I am seeing them on the 4th Dec so we can chat about our views afterwards. Muse are really popular here, really really popular. They may just be becoming the yr2000 version of Queen because they are kind of flamboyant with their musical arrangements.

Thats ok, we need good music!

They must just LOVE fans like me.... and then hate them later when they actually show up to their shows…

Yeah their music is really out there but I love it and it totally works. Its like a jigsaw puzzle of music that they just put together in an amazing way. You kind of never know what to expect from muse, I think. When I first got Muse's cd I hated it (it was a bad day) but then i listen'd to it another day and absolutely loved it. Can't wait to tell you what I think of Biffy Clyro live. But this week I am going to see, Ryan Meeking, stonefield and Michael Paynter down in Melbourne/ St Kilda. Can't wait but once again it is going to be a flying trip. I am tired already, and after this week I am going to be exhausted. :O yaawwwnnnnnnn!

I feel so lucky to have had so many great bands coming and touring Australia (most have been Aussie bands) this year, as it was kind of a spur of the moment thing when I dedicated this year to making up for lost time by seeing as many bands that I could without looking to much like a crazy person, and without spending all my money. My life has often been that way, I truly believe things happen for a reason and things have mostly/ almost perfectly fallen into place to allow me this time and oportunity and the great bands to achieve what I had set out to do this year. Life can be amazing sometimes. Gosh I love life, so full of surprises and what a great ride it is sometimes. Even the Vines came back onto the music scene, i have wanted to see them for years but couldn't. this was so meant to be.

Yes Stonefield are on the bill. I just googled them yesterday and they are pretty good, could only check out a couple of songs though. Evidently they are all sisters and have just recently form'd as a band. I am so looking forward to Thursday night, 3 really good bands in the one evening. I am a bit nervous though, I always get nervous just before I travel. It should be fun and then next week its off to Wollongong to see JET YAY! Can't wait. I am really bummed in one respect though. I just found out the checks are playing in Melb on the Friday night and the Saints and Geelong (Aussie football, my favourite 2 teams) are play each other on friday night 2. But I had promised my clients I would come back on friday so I would be there for their dinner dance. Why oh why did I make a promise. I actually did a little scream when I found out these 2 little bits of info, it kind of went like this Nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooo! LOL. But I made a promise and I can't break it. Damn it! I actually think one of my clients might be a bit psychic, she said to me over and over agian that I was not to stay any longer in Melb and several other things that made me think why is she so concerned about me staying longer in Melb she knows I am coming back on Friday for the dinner dance. Hmmmmmm she might have known I would be tempted to stay longer for those 2 brilliant things. Damn it! Oh well such is life. I'll have fun dancing with my clients, and helping them get ready for their big night out, they are so sweet some times. by 4 now. fee.

    Hey Alex,
I just got back from Melb this morning. I am beyound tired. Why oh why are my trips never straight forward and normal. A couple had a massive domestic at the hotel I was at on the 1st night and the 2nd night some guy was constantly moving things around in his room, Come 5am on fri I have maybe got an hours sleep, got home tried to get a couple of hours sleep at home before I had to go to work and just as I was nodding off the door bell ring aaarrrrrrrr! I swear I can not win sometimes.
Anyway the trip was great caught up with a cousin, and a friend from primary school. The bands were great. I really am in awe of Stonefield. The drummer can really sing and they are so young wow. They are going to be a great band. And the Ryan Meeking band, well I just love their music and his voice is just beautiful. I just finished work an hour ago, and am so going to just curl up and die for the night. I feel like I am at the state of beyond tired. I am a zombie grrrr. I know not funny I so have to go to sleep. by for now. fee.

Sounded like an interesting trip there! And I'm so glad to hear Stonefield was just as good as they sound recorded... I really don't like when bands suck live, whether I discover that myself or not.

No still haven't found it. But I am determined to, it has to be somewhere here. Isn't it so frustrating when you stupid stuff like this. You know it is there somewhere you just can't remember where exactly. Grrrrrr. Anyway it will turn up.

It was either set down somewhere stupid and you forgot it, or you are too prepared and already put it in a spot you'll 'never forget' :)

No its all fine (but only just). I was house sitting for my parents and my ticket ended up in between thier pile of mail. I was very lucky they only just came home and Mum was about to throw a pile of unwanted mail away but decided to look through it one more time and she found my ticket. I lost track of the ticket as I was kind of living in 2 places at once. But I am very relieved now. The ticket is now "safe" & secure on my fridge where all my tickets/ travel stuff goes. I was so lucky they came home when they did though the next night I needed them to take me to the emergency department, I was to stubborn to call for an ambulance (how embarrasing), mind u it was still embarrasing, I was in my pajamas, hair a mess, could not hold my self up and had to be wheeled around in a wheel chair, OH THE SHAME! I am laughing at my self now but, I had let my self get run down and extreemly exhausted that when I got a bad bug it just ripped right through me. Will not let that happen again. How embarrasing. There is a lesson there for me to learn. Lucky I am going on a 3 week holiday after my week of Jet shows. Thank goodness, because I need it! fee
